The blog is back! I'm excited to see us back to blogging and sharing our ideas about our reading. We are starting to work on research in our new writing and reading units. We will have to read many nonfiction texts in order to gain understanding of our topics to become experts.
Reading through a nonfiction text can be difficult. This week I'd like us to share our thoughts about reading nonfiction. What strategies do you need to use in order to better understand a nonfiction text? What tips do you have for others when reading nonfiction? Be sure to answer this question and respond to another student's comment by Friday. I am looking for well developed answers that use examples from your own experiences. As we move into informational text and our mini research project, let's brainstorm some possible ideas for our New Jersey research project.
What are some interesting people, places or things related to New Jersey that you would like to research? This week, we are celebrating everything we learned about poetry. How has studying poetry made you a better reader of fiction and nonfiction text? What are some skills you learned in this unit that will carry over to our next unit in reading--informational text? Lastly, what are some questions that you still have about poetry? I look forward to hearing your reflections on this unit!
